What Northland Provides
Equipment supply, repairs, testing and certification. Northland designs, supplies, builds and repairs hydrostatic testing equipment. We also inspect, pressure-test, function-test, calibrate and certify applicable equipment as part of our agreed service work, with supporting records where applicable. We do not carry out customers' actual industrial hydrostatic testing jobs on their pipelines, vessels or installations.

What is hydrostatic testing?
Hydrostatic testing is a method of pressure testing that uses a suitable liquid, commonly water, to evaluate the pressure integrity of equipment or a contained system. The component is pressurized under a defined procedure while qualified personnel observe its response and document the outcome.
The equipment used can include a pressure source, test panel, isolation and control valves, rated hoses and fittings, gauges, recorders and safety provisions. The exact setup depends on what is being tested and the applicable requirements.
Northland helps you select, build and service that equipment, including custom-built solutions and applicable in-shop equipment testing, calibration and certification when required. The test pressure, hold period, acceptance criteria and procedures must be established by the applicable standard, engineering authority and qualified testing provider.

What determines the right hydrotester?
A suitable pressure test system is more than a maximum PSI rating. These details help our team recommend a sensible configuration.

The equipment must be rated for the required application, with appropriate pressure control and protection.

Water, hydraulic fluid or another approved medium affects seals, components, cleanliness and materials.
03. Fill volume & flow
Large volumes, rapid filling and frequent cycles may require a different pump arrangement.

Does Northland perform testing and certification?
Yes. Northland inspects, repairs and performs applicable functional testing, pressure testing, gauge calibration and certification of equipment within an agreed service scope. We supply and service equipment used for hydrostatic testing, but we do not travel to perform a customer's end-use hydrostatic testing job on pipelines, vessels or installations. The customer's qualified testing personnel or contractor performs that work.
What equipment is needed for hydrostatic pressure testing?
That depends on the component and procedure. Common elements include a suitable pressure source, gauges or pressure transducers, controls, isolation valves, rated hoses, fittings, safety provisions and, where needed, a data logger or recorder. Northland can help configure the equipment around your application.
Can Northland build custom hydrostatic testing systems?
Yes. Northland designs and builds custom hydrotesters and test benches, with configurations selected around pressure, test medium, flow, layout, connections, instrumentation and controls.
Can you supply hydrotest equipment up to 60,000 PSI?
Northland offers selected custom high-pressure equipment and systems up to 60,000 PSI, depending on the design and application. Not every component or system is rated to that pressure. Confirm the exact configuration and ratings with Northland before ordering.
Does Northland sell and repair different brands?
Yes. Northland sells and repairs hydrotest pumps, panels, benches and related components from multiple brands. Send the manufacturer, model number and equipment details so the team can review available options.
What is the difference between hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing?
Hydrostatic testing typically uses a liquid. Pneumatic pressure testing uses compressed gas and involves different risk considerations. Northland also supplies gas booster equipment for suitable gas-pressure applications, but a gas booster is not the same thing as a liquid hydrostatic test pump. Test methods must follow applicable procedures and safety requirements.
